讲座题目:Recent Developments in the Theory and Applications of Moving Frames

讲座人: Peter John Olver 教授

讲座时间:10:00

讲座日期: 2016-12-16

讲座地点:长安校区 文汇楼A区一层报告厅

主办单位:永利yl23411 计算智能研究团队

讲座内容简介:

In this talk, I will present the key ideas and algorithms underlying the equivariant approach to moving frames, for both Lie group and Lie pseudo-group actions. Some examples of an ever-widening range of new applications will be included, including differential invariant algebras, joint differential invariants, variational problems, partial differential equations, numerical analysis, image processing, classical invariant theory, integrable systems, and elsewhere.

讲座人简介:

Peter John Olver is an American mathematician whose primary research interests revolve around the applications of symmetry and Lie groups to differential equations. Over the years, he has done research in fluid mechanics, elasticity, quatum mechanics, mathematical physics, Hamiltonian mechanics, the calculus of variations, differential geometry, classical invariant theory, computer vision, and geometric numerical methods. He has been a full professor at the University of Minnesota since 1985. As of July, 2008, he has been serving as the Head of the Department. Olver became a fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics for “developing new geometric methods for differential equations leading to applications in fluid mechanics, elasticity, quantum mechanics, and image processing.”In addition, Olver is an elected fellow of the institute of Physics and a fellow of the American Mathematical Society.
